Gareth Jenkinson is an award-winning South African journalist and broadcaster, currently Head of Multimedia at The Block. His career began in news before specialising in sport — he spent eight years as a prime-time co-host and sports journalist at East Coast Radio, one of South Africa’s most listened-to stations, and worked as a sports journalist and presenter at SuperSport’s 24-hour news channel.

His in-field coverage of the Springboks’ winning campaign at the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan earned him a South African Radio Award and a national award for innovation in journalism.

Since 2017 he has been covering Bitcoin and digital assets full-time. At Cointelegraph he rose to Managing Editor and Head of Multimedia, building the flagship live interview franchise Chain Reaction and playing a central role in developing LONGITUDE, Cointelegraph’s exclusive flagship event.
